Most people know the storyVery few know the real one.

David was never the underdog. Though a simple shepherd, he was also an expert, trained from childhood with a sling that, in skilled hands, hit with the force of a .45 calibre round. He had years of real practice protecting his flock from predators such as lions and bears. When he faced Goliath, he was not lucky. He was prepared.

Goliath, meanwhile, was half-blind. The same condition that made him enormous compressed his optic nerves. He could not see clearly beyond 20 yards. Wearing 60 kilograms of armour built for close combat, slow and encumbered. When Goliath shouted at David, “Am I a dog that you should come to me with sticks?” he was squinting, trying to see what David was holding. Goliath was the real underdog. He never stood a chance.
